Interim Senior Buyer (CAPEX)

Interim Search has been entrusted with appointing an interim Senior Buyer (CAPEX) for a larger international company.

The Senior Buyer (CAPEX) is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and contracting capital equipment and investment-related goods and services.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing for CAPEX projects (equipment, machinery, production lines, infrastructure, technology investments).
  • Develop and maintain CAPEX category strategies aligned with business needs, lifecycle cost, and longterm asset planning.
  • Act as procurement lead in crossfunctional CAPEX project teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Finance, Sustainability).
  • Manage RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs with clear specifications, evaluation criteria, and risk assessments.
  • Negotiate contractual- and commercial terms and conditions and service agreements.
  • Drive contract lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with legal, technical, and ESG requirements.
  • Secure longterm value through TCObased decision making and riskadjusted cost models.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key CAPEX suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance on quality, delivery, safety, sustainability, and innovation.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for CAPEX projects.
  •  Identify and mitigate risks related to supply, installation, commissioning, and longterm asset reliability.

 

To be relevant for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent.
  • 5–7 years of experience in procurement, ideally with CAPEX or technical sourcing.
  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment, production technology, or construction projects.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience working in crossfunctional project environments.
  • Technical understanding of equipment, machinery, and industrial systems.
  • Analytical mindset with strong financial and TCO modelling skills.
  • Project leadership and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking combined with handson execution.

 

About the process:

The assignment is full-time starting in September and is expected to last for 9–12 months.
