Record quarter for Patrik Lilja in Malmö - now the team is growing
After 18 months as Director at Interim Search, Patrik Lilja has emerged as a high-performing recruitment consultant. Based in Malmö and with a recent record quarter behind him, Patrik has shown that the combination of local presence and utilization of Sweden's largest interim network is a winning concept to solve clients' most critical needs.
How do you see your development during your 18 months as a recruitment consultant at Interim Search?
- It has been a fantastic journey where I have focused on high quality in every single process. I have been able to make a number of successful appointments, and my last quarter was actually my strongest so far since I started. About 75% of the roles I handle are at management level in Finance, HR, Operations and Sustainability - areas that require both precision and a deep understanding of the client's business goals.
What is the secret behind your ability to deliver such strong results?
- As part of Sweden's largest player, I have access to economies of scale that are crucial to the end result. Our research capacity means that I am never limited by my local network. If the right expertise is not available in Malmö, we can find it elsewhere in the country. I have appointed consultants who have commuted from Stockholm to Skåne, or from Gävle to Östersund. The fact that we as an organization can solve practical obstacles such as housing means that I can present solutions that other actors often miss.
How do you feel about the demand for specialist and leadership roles in Skåne right now?
- Skåne has an exciting but challenging labor market. Many companies here are quickly reaching the limits of their own networks, which is where our local presence across Sweden becomes a huge strength. By combining face-to-face meetings with our national reach, I make sure I'm top of mind with clients. It's about giving them access to the best interim consultants across the country, not just those who happen to live in the local area.
What trends do you see in the challenges your customers face?
- We see an increasing need for strategic interim consultants. Companies often have the skills for day-to-day management in-house, but they lack the muscle to make major moves or solve specific obstacles here and now. Once the move is complete, they can get back to business as usual. As a person, I am driven by enabling these changes; I thrive best when there is a clear drive forward and an immediate business benefit for the customer.
How do you see your future journey in the company?
- My goal is to continue to build on my delivery history and be the natural first choice for companies in southern Sweden. By constantly deepening my expertise and utilizing the power of being the market's sharpest player, I will continue to make high-quality appointments that make a real difference. It is the direct impact on the customer's business that gives me the most energy in the role.

Patrick's journey shows that local presence combined with Sweden's strongest network is a winning concept. We are now gearing up in several parts of the country and have recently strengthened in the west by welcoming Anna Rumin back to the Gothenburg office.
