Interim Factory Manager, U.S. (East Coast)

Interim Search has been tasked with appointing an interim Factory Manager for a multinational company operating in over 100 countries.

The current facility in the U.S. is undergoing a major overhaul; significant investments are being made, and the leader’s primary mission is to ensure that the investment in capacity expansion proceeds as planned.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the entire plant.

  • Ensure world-class manufacturing performance, maximize operational efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure that the investment in capacity expansion proceeds as planned—there is a project manager in charge, reporting to the CEO.
  • Ensure and develop the site's operations, both by meeting operational targets and by facilitating a transition to new ways of working.
  • Assess the performance of factory operations and ensure that appropriate actions are identified.
  • Ensure that the management team functions effectively.

To be considered for the role:

  • Several years of experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 5–10 years in a senior plant management or operations leadership role (based in the U.S.) within a complex engineering, capital equipment, or heavy machinery environment.
  • Industrial and/or Mechanical Engineering background.
  • Extensive expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Proven track record of strong leadership capabilities, delivering results using an agile and empowering leadership style.
  • Experience in successfully managing various stakeholders and business partners at all levels of the organization, as well as external partners.
  • A thorough understanding of U.S. regulatory environments, including safety standards, environmental laws, and standard U.S. accounting practices for manufacturing (GAAP).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

About the process:

The position is full-time (100%), begins in September, and is expected to last 6–9 months. FFor European consultants, this means being able to relocate during the assignment.

Candidate presentations will take place in week 27, followed by client interviews shortly thereafter.
