Interim Head of Engineering, Maintenance, and Facilities
Interim Search has been entrusted with recruiting an Interim Maintenance Manager for a leading beverage manufacturer located in southern Sweden. The role involves taking overall responsibility for the maintenance and facilities functions, as well as driving the development of structure, administrative procedures, and long-term maintenance strategies in a fast-paced production environment. You will lead and develop an operational team of technicians and work closely with management to improve availability, operational reliability, and efficiency at the company’s production facilities, tank farms, and properties.
Main duties:
- Lead, coach, and develop technicians, maintenance staff, and property teams, and be responsible for staffing and professional development (mechanical, electrical, automation, and property management).
- Ensure high operational reliability of production equipment (pumps, tanks, filling lines, storage facilities) and be responsible for both scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency corrective maintenance.
- Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies (e.g., TPM and predictive maintenance) and establish structured work processes and follow-up procedures.
- Be responsible for property operations, including buildings, cooling systems, ventilation, and energy supply.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and requirements related to food safety, hygiene, occupational health and safety, electrical safety, pressure vessels, and the environment.
- Manage investment projects (new lines, automation, capacity expansion) and oversee external suppliers, service contracts, and contractors.
- Be responsible for budgeting, cost monitoring, and optimization to reduce the use of external maintenance services.
- Work closely with production, quality, and logistics to build a sustainable and future-proof technical platform.
To be eligible for the role:
- Documented experience in managing personnel and operations for a maintenance or technical department in a manufacturing organization.
- Engineering degree (bachelor's or master's in engineering, or equivalent post-secondary technical education).
- Documented industry experience in food production or FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods).
- Solid experience in property management, installations, and modern maintenance systems/strategies (e.g., TPM, predictive maintenance).
- Experience with investment projects, supplier negotiations, and budget management in the fields of technology and maintenance.
- Experience driving change in family-owned or entrepreneur-led companies with fast decision-making processes and a high level of operational involvement from the owners.
- Proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to be on-site at the facility during the assignment period.
About the process
This is a full-time position (100 %) starting immediately. The assignment is initially for approximately 6 months. The application deadline is October 5, and interviews with the client will take place shortly thereafter.
