Interim Head of Communications & Public Relations

Interim Search has been entrusted with the task of recruiting an Interim Head of Communication & PR for a leading company in its industry. The role involves taking overall responsibility for the company’s communications, with a particular focus on brand building and business-driven PR.. You will lead and develop a team and work closely with the CEO and other members of senior management to modernize and drive external communications in a fast-paced environment.
Main duties:
- Be responsible for and manage strategic and operational internal and external communications and public relations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4–5 employees in internal communications, external communications, and public relations.
- Conduct business-oriented PR (approximately 80% % focused on business PR) to strengthen the brand and gain market share.
- Serve as a spokesperson and represent the company confidently and professionally in the media and in public settings.
- Ensure that the external communications strategy aligns with the internal strategy and supports the business objectives.
- Manage media relations, reactive communications, and crisis communications as needed.
- Develop and optimize the company's own channels, such as the press room, intranet, and social media.
- Report directly to the CEO and be a member of the executive team.
To be eligible for the role:
- Documented experience leading both internal and external communications in complex organizations.
- Approximately 8+ years of professional experience, as well as proven leadership experience and responsibility for staff.
- Experience in consumer-facing retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), beauty, fashion, and/or media and editorial journalism, editorial departments, TV, radio, publishing, and digital media. PR & Corporate Communications, PR agency, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs.
- Extremely comfortable and confident in front of the camera, with a strong ability to serve as a spokesperson to the media.
- Experience working at a fast pace, including change management and high delivery standards.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- A solid understanding of common communication tools, CMS, press room systems, and social media.
Meritorious:
- A background in journalism (as a reporter or editor) with a strong contextual approach to story angles, headlines, and tailoring content to the target audience is highly desirable.
- A college degree in journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience in media relations, crisis communication, and press relations.
- A deep understanding of modern PR drivers and digital brand building.

About the process
This is a full-time position (100 %) with a start date to be agreed upon (no later than the end of October). The assignment will initially last approximately 6 months. The application deadline is August 20, and interviews with the client will take place shortly thereafter.
