GU Executive Education and Interim Search present the 2026 launch of the Interim Management Professional Programme – now with a new AI module for future leadership
GU Executive Education and Interim Search continue their successful collaboration. Applications are now open for the 2026 edition of Interim Management Professional Program, Sweden's first academic program in Interim Management. The program is specially designed for high-performing interim managers and specialists who lead complex and rapid change processes. To meet the digital demands of the future, a new, unique module is being introduced: ”Develop human experience and expertise with AI”. This reinforcement ensures that participants receive the strategic tools necessary to navigate and create value in an increasingly AI-driven business environment.
Program content and academic basis
The course, which takes place at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg between May 18 and 22, 2026, combines evidence-based theory with high practical relevance. It is based on the latest research from the Stockholm School of Economics and is designed to address the unique challenges faced by interim managers. The main focus is on three critical areas: change management, strategy implementation, and sustainable leadership. Interim Management has established itself as a critical success factor for organizations undergoing extensive strategic change projects, and this program contributes significantly to maintaining a high standard of competence and professionalism in the industry.
New module: AI as support for human judgment
The 2026 program stands out by introducing the groundbreaking module ”Develop human experience and expertise with AI”. The module is a collaboration between the Department of Psychology and the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg and focuses on how AI can be used strategically, responsibly, and to create value.
Participating experts are Leif Denti, psychologist and researcher in creativity, leadership, and human behavior, as well as Viktor Appelgren, AI researcher at the Stockholm School of Economics with expertise in strategic AI application. The module's message is clear: When used wisely, technology becomes a support for human judgment—not a replacement for it.. The aim is to train leaders who can drive transformations where AI is an accelerator, but where people and their judgment remain central.
A program that raises the industry standard
The organizers emphasize the importance of the program in raising the level of competence among Sweden's interim managers.
”We are delighted to continue offering this training program, which strengthens consultants” leadership and strategic implementation skills. Participants gain tools to quickly analyze business situations, drive transformations, and, not least, create concrete results. The addition of an AI module ensures that our participants are equipped for the leadership challenges of the future.” says Henrik Schröder, CEO, GU Executive Education.
Stefan Granqvist, CEO, Interim Search, adds: ”The program plays an important role in raising the status of the interim role. Our clients should feel confident that they are hiring leaders who maintain the highest standards and contribute to long-term business goals. The integration of the AI perspective shows that we are at the forefront and equipping leaders for the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
Selection and the parties behind the program
The target group for the program is high-performing leaders and specialists. Assessment and selection of participants is carried out by a dedicated committee from GU Executive Education and Interim Search to ensure the highest possible level of competence and experience in each class.
